Rakchat grew up along the Thailand-Myanmar (Burma) border in a family of thirteen children. His father was a well known leader among the Karen people. His mother before had been a nurse under the Baptist Karen Mission.
After high school, Rakchat went and served in the Thai army. After his term of army service was completed, he went onto seminary to study at the Bangkok Bible Seminary (BBS) where he met Sang Tien. After graduation, Rakchat and Sang Tien married and they went to serve in a large Karen Baptist church in a town along the Thailand-Myanmar (Burma) border. In 2009, Rakchat along with his family joined the Farthest Corners team to help lead all of Farthest Corners’ projects related to the Karen people. He and his wife alongside Farthest Corners ministry, have also served as house parents at a Christian hostel for Thai-Karen college students in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
