Why is relief needed in Myanmar (Burma)?

Farthest Corners since its inception has assisted with relief work in Karen, Shan and Arakan State due to fighting and war. In 2008, Farthest Corners responded to assist with the catastrophic cyclone Nargis which killed at least 250,000 people officially although the real death too will never be known. In 2009, Farthest Corners assisted with rice relief during a famine that struck Chin State, when droves of rats cleared entire rice fields. In 2015-2016, Farthest Corners helped with flood relief in Saigaing Division and Chin State Myanmar (Burma).
During the last couple of years, Farthest Corners has provided aid and relief to villagers in Arakan and Southern Chin State who are under durress.
