Formed in 2006 by twin sisters Maria and Sarah Fitzmaurice, The Fitzmaurice Band plays the entire spectrum of bluegrass and traditional music from the high and lonesome sounds of Bill Monroe, to old time gospel hymns and blues.  Despite their lack of longevity, the group has made a name for themselves in the D.C. bluegrass and acoustic music scenes.  Over the past year the group has signed with the Patuxent Music label, and performed at several prestigious venues such as the IBMA World of Bluegrass in Nashville, The Rams Head Tavern in Annapolis, The Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival in upstate New York, and the Cabin Fever Pickin' Party in Hampton.
